Engineering Manager:

Q.B. Johnson Manufacturing, Inc., located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a leading  manufacturer in the natural gas treating and processing industry, seeks an Engineering Manager to provide project and process engineering management.

Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Chemical or Cryogenic Engineering or a related field, and a minimum of 36 months of engineering management experience with steel fabrication & natural gas processing equipment in a process-oriented company or in an operating company with
management duties.

Qualified candidates must be able to supervise and train Project and Process Engineers who design and propose technical solutions to meet customer needs in the field of gas processing. Qualified Candidates must be proficient in mathematical modeling of chemical processes as applied to the manufacture of gas process equipment and must possess detailed  knowledge of heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, mathematical modeling of chemical processes in application to gas industry and project management. Qualified candidates must also understand multiple specifications in gas processing, chemical engineering and possess the ability to utilize this knowledge in the development of new equipment and improvement of existing equipment. Qualified candidates must also be proficient in developing standardized designs for frequently manufactured equipment, optimizing existing equipment designs to raise process and cost efficiency, developing concept and feasibility studies and be able to coordinate future clients and establish new clients to enhance and expand the company’s presence in export markets.

Key qualifications include, but are not limited to, a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering or a related field; experience as a process or project engineer; experience with simulation of systems in chemical engineering software; and experience with specification of equipment and components to achieve needed process performance.

Project Engineer:

  Functions as Process Engineer

  • Interpretation of client inquires to select type of system/equipment to achieve client needs
  • Simulation of systems in chemical engineering software
  • Specification of equipment and components to achieve needed process performance
  • Control valve sizing
  • Design of control schema
  • Communicate with Quality Control and Plant Manager to quickly correct drawing errors & address design questions
  • Understanding of P&ID and PFD type drawings

  Functions as Project Engineer

  • Manages assigned projects to assure the successful completion of the project
  • Communicates with customers regarding specifications and requirements of the project
  • Interprets specifications and assures specifications are followed in the fabrication of the equipment
  • Prepares requisitions for procurement of project materials
  • Review of fabrication drawings for accuracy
  • Assures materials are received and available in a timely manner in order to complete projects according to schedule.
  • Provide accurate and timely data for customer Data Books
  • Ability to perform in-depth design and analysis of pressure vessels using ASME codes (Section VIII Division 1 & 2, Section II & Section IX) TEMA, and good Engineering practices.

 Preferred Education /Experience

  • BS in engineering, BSME or BSChE preferred.
  • A minimum range of two to five years total engineering experience, at least one year of which shall have been accrued working as an engineer in a process oriented, E/C company or in an operating company with project engineering duties.

ASME Code Welders:

  • Knowledge & skill in the use of welding machines, grinders, drills, jacks, hoists, cutting torches, turning rolls, & other necessary tools required for fabrication
  • Ability to layout, fit-up, arc-gouge, and weld carbon & stainless steel
  • Color code lugs, braces, fittings, pipe, nozzles, trays, skirts, base-plates, baffles supports, diverters, and lifting lugs prior to fit up
  • Ability to use appropriate techniques and processes during fabrication process
  • Ability to read fabicration prints and to interpret welding symbols
  • Follow Welding Consumable Control Policy
  • Follow Material Control Policy
  • Follow requirements for fabrication per Section VII Div. I of ASME Code.
